Charlottesville
By +Philip Jones | | Spiritual Growth | 2 Corinthians, grief, Racial inustice, racism, relationships, sorrow, Text
In Charlottesville we saw front and center once again the violence of racism, and the lie of Satan that says that a person's value is based on the color of the skin, their heritage, or their station in life. This is antithetical to God's word that tells us that we are all made in the image of God, all known and all loved.
Coaching: A Help to Get Unstuck
By AMIA Communications | | Discipleship, Leadership | coaching, Ministry resources, Text
Thankfully, it has been a pattern in my life that God will put people in my path who invest in me. People who are willing to invest their time in seeing me and other leaders develop. So when I came across the opportunity to receive coaching in ministry, that seemed like a logical next step.
Isolation Processing
By +Philip Jones | | Celebrate, Leadership | Ash Wednesday, Church year, Lent, Text
The Christian life is embedded in the cross. The ashes are imposed upon us making the sign of the cross on our forehead. It is a reminder that yes, we will die and return to dust, but that is not the last word.

Lent in our Wilderness
By Guest | | Celebrate | Church year, Lent, Luke 4:1-2, Text
In the wilderness, harsh as it is, I cannot continue to prop-up the illusion that I can ignore my brokenness or deal with it in my own power. In the wilderness, I am offered the opportunity to face the truth about myself and trust the Father’s voice.
The Spirit’s Presence in Word and Sacrament
By Guest | | Sacraments, Scripture, Spiritual Growth | Anglicanism, Holy Spirit, Text
The catechism explains that the sacraments are outward and visible signs (read: symbols) of inward and spiritual grace. This grace must be experienced, not just cogitated about or announced over us in the sacraments. And grace, such as the grace of knowing you are marked as Christ’s own for ever, is delivered through the Holy Spirit.

By Lucas Damoff | | Uncategorized | lazy, sins, slothfulness, Text
Americans tend to be busy. We might think that because we're so busy we are not slothful. But we can be so busy that we don’t think we have time to worship the Lord.
Life, Death and the Annunciation
By Guest | | Celebrate | Lent, Luke 2:19, Text, The Annunciation
The Feast of the Annunciation is celebration of the day when Mary received the news from Gabriel that she was going to bear the Son of God. It feels odd to celebrate this day of good news and new life in this solemn Lenten season of repentance and death. But the date can’t be helped—nine months from now we will celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Lent is an opportunity to re-center ourselves on the grace and mercy of God. That life might be brought into sharper focus as we consider Christ's journey to the cross.
The Most/Least Popular Sin
By Lucas Damoff | | Celebrate, Spiritual Growth | gluttony, Lent, sins, Text
What is gluttony? It is not simply overeating or being overweight, but rather an attitude towards that lends itself to such things. We might do well to begin by defining gluttony as taking more than we need.
