Seeking our Father’s Love

I stand in awe of how the Lord continues to reveal himself to us. He is a Father who reveals himself most clearly through his Word, but who also speaks to us as a loving Father to his children to encourage us, to lift us up and to console us.

At one time, our Bishop visited St. Andrew Church for confirmations. As he prayed over those who came to be confirmed, I watched tears flow down cheeks as he spoke prophetic words to them, each specific to the individual. Where were the tears from? The Father had spoken through the bishop to his sons and daughters to encourage them, to lift them up in their journeys, to renew and restore hope that he knew them and cared deeply about what was going on in their lives.

I believe that the more you and I seek to be rooted and grounded in the Father’s love, the more intentional we will be to minister that love and grace to those around us. What I am realizing these days is that the more I am rooted and grounded in the Father’s love, the more I am freed from trying to get love and identity from people around me. As a result, I am finding myself being more attuned to what he is doing around me in the lives of people that I interact with each day. I ask my Father to give me his heart for each person and that I would be open to any prophetic words, dreams or visions that he would show me to share with them.

My prayer is that you too would sit in amazement of the great love of our Father, who sent his Son into the world to redeem us from our sins.

Prayer for Spiritual Strength

Ephesians 3:14-21

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
